Sandhurst hosts the PGA Legends Tour Qualifying School

The PGA Ladbrokes Legends Tour kicks off this week at Sandhurst Golf Club, with the qualifying school taking place on Sandhurst’s beautiful North Course. The Ladbrokes Legends tour is the professional golf circuit for players aged 50 and over, comprised of approximately 70 tournaments played across Australia and New Zealand.

With the Australian PGA based at Sandhurst, the links inspired North Course is the perfect venue for the preliminary stages of the circuit to take place, ahead of the opening tournament, the Victorian Senior Masters, at the end of the month. Qualifying School – stage 1 will take place on the 9th -10th of January, and the final stage on the 11th-12th, and enables players to secure an eligibility ranking within the PGA Legends Tour Exemption Categories for the forthcoming season.

The 2017 Order of Merit title was claimed by Brad Burns, securing the Order of Merit at the final event of the season. Burns, who enjoyed a strong start to the year, but had stiff competition from Pete Senior and Tim Elliot (last year’s winner) towards the end of the season. However, Burns did enough to hold onto the lead, finishing the year with a round of +1, 71 to top the money list. Winning the title awards Burns a start at the Insperity Invitational in May, a US$2,000,000 event played at Woodland Country Club Houston Texas, his first venture on to the US PGA Tour Champions.
