The Golf Victoria Junior Tournament was contested on the North Course on 19 August with a jam-packed field of 100 players. Unfortunately, brutal conditions met the players as they battled around the challenging course and squally showers made the going tough, with fierce southerly winds meaning the temperature felt closer to 0.
Sandhurst’s Kai Shipp, pictured, took home the girls title on her home soil. Another junior member, Kristoff Soliven, pictured, missed out on the top spot in the overall gross section but did fire the lowest nett score in A Division to take home the handicap title on 71. To cap off an exciting day for our juniors, Josh Marshall had his first hole in one on the third.
Whilst the older players made it out in the afternoon for the 18-hole competition, the 9-hole Rookie Series event that was scheduled prior was cancelled. Hail storms and 70kph winds made conditions unplayable early in the morning.
