As I write this message, we remain extremely concerned for the wellbeing of all our members and families alike. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to escalate at an alarming rate, and while the rate of infection continues, our restrictions and daily challenges will no doubt continue as well.
What is important for us as a community, is to work through this in a supportive and effective manner, and exercise extreme caution at every opportunity. There is absolutely no room to take these extreme measures lightly. How well we prepare and exercise caution will determine the speed of when we can finally return to normality and again enjoy the environment that Sandhurst Club offers us all.
As is well publicised, there have been several significant measures taken by the Club in response to Government regulations and guidelines being imposed. The Clubhouse, Health Club and golf driving range were all closed on Monday 23 March 2020 and will remain so until further notice.
We are extremely fortunate that the Sandbox Café can still operate at this stage, offering a takeaway menu for food and drinks. This is a welcoming service for many members. To take advantage of this service and to make it easier you can call through your order ahead of time for collection (ph: 8578 2562). For our golf members, we are fortunate that the golf courses are still permitted to remain open for members social play as long as they follow the guidelines as specified by the Club. To protect this privilege, we request golf members adhere to social distancing, good personal hygiene, avoid high contact points and any group gatherings, before and after their round.
Presently, there are no restrictions on movement around the Estate and it is encouraging to see so many residents enjoying walks for exercise and relaxation. Again, we urge everyone that when you are out and about that you strictly adhere to social distancing with no group gatherings taking place in any of the open spaces.
Unfortunately, recent examples have shown that some people continue to ignore these important restrictions. In the event that this continues, it would be unfortunate but necessary for management to exercise further shut down of the limited services that we are able to keep open. We need your help and respect for others to avoid taking this next drastic step!
Reception will be manned for calls between the reduced hours of 10am and 2pm, Monday to Friday. If you need to contact the Club outside of these hours please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Emails will continue to be monitored closely each weekday as a matter of urgency.
The Board, together with the executive management is actively monitoring the financial position of the organisation and meets weekly via remote video conferencing. Significant operational changes have been necessary, including the stand down of non-essential services and labour. Although extremely difficult, these measures have been taken to ensure the financial viability of the Club. Further changes may be required if the situation continues longer than expected or additional restrictions are enforced.
To our management team led by our CEO Julian Murray; even though there is still work and challenges that lay ahead, the Board would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation, gratitude and recognition for the effective way in which the management have been able to mobilise and implement these many measures so quickly and effectively during such unprecedented times.
